The Novelty of Black Owned Brands 365 days a year!

As we bring Black History month (February) to a close, we wanted to express the necessity to keep the conversation going surrounding Black-owned brands and the need to support these businesses year round. Honoring Black history all day and everyday is a celebration we are proud to pay tribute. We've always been committed to recycling our dollars in the African-American community and beyond. Our tradition of supporting and highlighting Black-owned runs deep. It's in our DNA.

During the past two years, we've been able to spotlight 200+ Black-owned businesses and brands, some of which we included in our gift sets, partnered with on social media, hosted giveaways, shared with our virtual brunch guests, and more. It's been a season of amplification that we hope continues for days and years to come.

It is for this reason, we designated this space to continue the conversation by sharing lists, sites, posts, and more of where you can shop Black-owned purposefully. Whether you're in need of a beauty refresh, home decor update, fashion splurge, new recipe, or more, we hope this list gives you the options to spend where it counts.

#EDENBlackFridays - peruse this hash tag on Instagram featuring 200+ Black-owned brands list contains almost every category imaginable from food to fashion to beauty to home decor to stationery and more.

Retailers Rally Behind the 15% Pledge

We are elated to see all of the emphasis on Black-owned grow, not just during Black History month. ApartmentTherapy gave us a window into five Black-owned home decor brands to add to your cart. Beauty Independent penned an article spilling the beans on Eight Black Women Beauty Company Founders Who Raised $1M or More.

Shark Tank had its first Black female guest shark, Emma Grede, who sits on the board of The Fifteen Percent Pledge, and invested in Range Beauty, a Black-owned makeup brand for forgotten shades, during a recent episode. Clubhouse (Community Club) hosted a Black-Owned Business Marketplace to help us discover 20+ brands to shop beyond Black History Month. You've seen Target, Nordstrom, West Elm, and so many more beginning to publicly support Black-owned and we couldn't be more delighted.

We've had some really great and fun collabs in the spirit of allyship too thanks to IPSY, Shoe Dazzle, RBX Active, Wakeheart and more.

Ways to Support Beyond Your Favorite Black-Owned Businesses

  • Send a gift card
  • Follow, like and/or save social media posts
  • Post/repost about a brand, business, or product you love {this is a great way for photographers, makeup artists, stylists, and service providers to build their businesses}

Could We Do More?

Always! You can peruse our blog posts (here or here, as examples) to see brands we've promoted and/or collaborated with over the years. You can follow us on social media as we continue to share more Black-owned businesses. What's our latest commitment to helping keep the awareness of #buyBlack popular? We've decided to help the Black beauty supply store owners in the haircare industry to be more visible (aka be seen) and create an Instagram highlight (database) sharing locations that carry EDEN BodyWorks. Know one, tell them to sign up here to be included.

There's more work to be done as the days, weeks, and months grow. Share your tips for supporting Black-owned beyond February below. Remember, we are in this together!
